Under the Hood: Radio

The link between the R1 remote and the target it controls is invisible until it fails. When it works, you never think about it. When it does not, your training stops. So the radio choice matters more than it looks, and there are real reasons we built the T1, T2, and R1 on 2.4GHz.

Wireless target systems generally pick one of two unlicensed bands: 915MHz or 2.4GHz. Both can work. They differ in how widely they are used, how they behave, and how straightforward they are to certify and sell.

We chose 2.4GHz, and it is not an exotic choice. It is the same band your home wifi router uses, which tells you how proven and globally common it is.

· It is a globally familiar, license-free band - 2.4GHz is recognized and used the same way around the world, with no special licensing required for normal use. The 915MHz band is allocated differently from region to region, which adds friction the moment you think beyond a single market. Building on the band the whole world already uses keeps the system simple and portable.

· It makes certification cleaner - Because 2.4GHz is so well established, the path to formal FCC certification is more straightforward than it is for less common configurations. That is not a small detail. It is the difference between a product that is properly certified and one that is operating in a gray area.

This is the part that matters to a dealer, a range, or an agency. The T1, T2, and R1 are all FCC compliant when used with their default settings, and they have gone through the official FCC certification process. Not "designed to comply." Actually certified.

For an institutional buyer, that is a real trust signal. It means the wireless system in the equipment you are putting on your line has been through the proper process, which is exactly the kind of thing a serious purchaser checks for and a serious manufacturer takes care of up front.

A reliable link on a proven band, certified the right way. That is why the radio is one less thing you ever have to think about.
